Living Stones

As Jesus prepared to enter Jerusalem in what we call the Triumphal Entry, he made a bold statement. If the people who welcomed him were silent, the stones along the road side would cry out! Somehow these inanimate objects would come to life and praise him.

Many years before the prophet Ezekiel declared that a time would come when God would remove hearts of stone from his people and replace them with hearts of flesh and that he would put his Holy Spirit within them. Peter extends the metaphor and says that Jesus, and we like him, are living stones.
