If not love, then what?

Last week we looked at Part One of Marriage in our Difficult Issues series. This week we tackle part two.

If love hasn’t got much to with marriage then what is it all about? God’s plan to restore all of creation to his original design is based in the union of a man and a woman. So in fact marriage is all about love, but not as we usually refer to it.

It is first of all the evidence of God’s love toward us that he chose to use the act of marriage as the means to bring us back into relationship with himself. And secondly it is a reflection of our love toward him that we accept his purpose to be an indivisible union committed to worship him in the way that he chose.

But what part does ‘love’ between husband and wife have in our marriages?
