What We Believe

We are a Christian church and believe that all people can have a relationship with God. We believe this relationship with God is possible because of Jesus, God’s only son, who invites us to follow him.

We have friendly relationships with other local churches from both traditional and modern backgrounds and we are affiliated with the Baptist Churches of Western Australia. We also have a public commitment to be Unashamedly Ethical.

If you are interested in exploring faith then please come along on a Sunday or contact the office to ask for a free booklet.

Statement of Beliefs

These are the statements of beliefs that we hold as a church. Sometimes these might be referred to as ceremonies or ordinances in other churches.

Statement on Marriage and Sexuality

Statement on Infant Dedication

Statement on Baptism

Statement on Marriage and Sexuality

We believe that marriage was designed by God to join one man and one woman in an exclusive relationship for life.

We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of marriage.

We believe that all persons employed by the church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, should abide by and agree to this Statement on Marriage and Sexuality and conduct themselves accordingly.

We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

We believe that every person must be shown compassion, love, kindness, respect and dignity.

Statement on Infant Dedication

Some of our church family ask that their dedication to the task of bringing up their children, with the opportunity to put their faith in Jesus, be recognised in the church. This is an opportunity to not only commit themselves, but to dedicate to God the gift He has given to them. It also provides us, as the church, the opportunity to commit ourselves to them and support them in the challenge and joy of Christian parenting.

We support infant/child dedication, and allow time in our service to pray for the families that request this. There is no water involved in this ceremony.

If this something you are considering, or would like to, please speak with the pastor so that we can share the privilege of sharing this commitment with you.

Statement on Baptism

Jesus commands his disciples to go and make disciples of all nations baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. So one of the reasons to baptise is because Jesus told us to (Matthew 28:19).

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We believe that baptism is an individual’s public profession of personal faith in Jesus Christ and surrender to Him. This is why it is so important that a person be old enough to understand what is happening and to be able to make such a commitment to Christ. This is why our baptisms at Australind Baptist Church are so special. It’s a mature person professing, “I know what I’m doing. And I want you to know, I belong to Jesus Christ. I’m surrendered to His will in my life.” Such testimonies bring great joy and blessing.

If this something you are considering, or would like to, please speak with the pastor so that we can share the privilege of sharing this commitment with you.

Is it just Sundays?

Absolutely not! God is with us all week long and we aim to lead lives pleasing to him. We’re not perfect and we do make mistakes, but we desire to make a positive difference in everything we do.

To further encourage us we have midweek small groups (a small group is simply a meeting of maybe 10 people in someone’s house).

Small groups are a great way to get to know others in the church and to be real with each other about everyday living.  No question is too stupid and you’ll find other people also exploring God for the first time. Contact us to find out.
