There are few sights as glorious as a sunrise. Those moments when the sun peeks above the horizon and brings light and warmth. However, although we wonder and can’t help being impressed by it, it’s anticipation will seldom get us out of bed! As Nehemiah continued on his circuit of the gates of Jerusalem he came to the East Gate, the Hebrew word used by him means ‘the gate at the place of sunrise’.
The Bible identifies this as the gate by which the Messiah will enter the city. The Jews sealed the gate until he comes and anticipate the day when it is opened to welcome him. Are we eagerly anticipating his coming, or are we a little too comfortable in our beds? Come along on Sunday to find out.
